Backstory Title
Martin Blake is a Irish born Nationalist, during the height of Provisional IRA, who latter fled the Ireland do to being hunted down for a car bombing. It was during this flight from the law that Blake would make his introduction into the world of the supernatural when he killed a ghoul of a wealthy Turkish vampire. Instead of killing the ghoul assassin the Kindred Kavo Shyna hired the lone gunman as a personal bodyguard and later turned Martin into a Ghoul himself. This arrangement lasted until 1974 when Kavo needed Martin for a certain task one that his Bloodline was bread for. So Blake was Embraced into the Azerattl Bloodline to once more become a servant killer but this time he was in the service of Kavo and not the people. After some basic training in the arts of this ancient Bloodline Blake was sent to America to hunt down and his target and complete his mission, but with the knowledge of the fact that with failure or success he could never return to Kavo’s side as Vampire hold on to vengeance as long as their Unlife.

Iblis, the Devil in the Shadows

Iblis watched the security guard as he circled around to check the front door again. The man looked bored more than anything else – after all, it wasn’t like he was protecting something of particular value. His job mainly entailed chasing off troublesome teenagers that were interested in exploration and being nosey, not theft.

So far tonight he’d had not so much as a peep. Iblis closed his eyes for a moment and tried to concentrate. He took a deep breath – a habit that had managed to stick around despite the fact that he no longer needed to breathe – and looked again, letting his eyes trace the outlines of the shadows in the office complex’s front lobby.

He had no interest in the items that were inside, but the guard patrolling the building was a valuable asset. He knew the man would be patrolling until near dawn, which gave him a static audience to practice on – a known quantity that would react similarly to the same stimulus, at least for a while.

Who is this character? Nikala is a Houses of the Blooded character that is loosely based around Nick Fury from Marvel comics. He holds the Ven ideals of what is right and wrong at heart and abhors the hypocrisy in Ven culture.

My Father was murdered while my Mother slept.
My name is Nikala Uvan, The Secret Hope for the Little Family. I live in the lands of Silch with my beautifully clever wife La’Zeta. We have no children but don’t think that topic hasn’t been discussed. I love La’Zeta dearly and I know she only wants what is best for our family. I just don’t have the time to raise a child; I have a promise to keep. Still, she has a point. An heir could be groomed to fulfill my legacy should I fail. Though, I fear that if I am to fail then there is no hope and I can’t bring another life into this corrupted world.

Who is this character? Gaston is a goblin inventor from a never-ran World of Warcraft game.  Not much more needs to be said about the character, because he never made it off the cutting room floor.

The Life and Times of Gaston Fizzlesprocket
Gaston was born to Billo Fizzlesprocket and Darla Fizzlesprocket in the underground city of Undermine. Gaston is the latest in a long line of unsuccessful Fizzlesprocket inventors dating back to his great-great Grandfather Lardo Thundersprocket. Lardo was a decent inventor and ended his career in a bang shortly after the creation of the Exploding Swine. Lardo was in stiff competition with the creator of Exploding Sheep and managed to get his version out before the Sheeps ever hit the market. Unfortunitly, while Lardo was giving his speech about the wonders of Exploding Swine, the little bacon maker wondered over to Lardo. Read the rest of this entry »

Who is this character? Kor’ell is an evil Minotaur for a very short lived Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition game. His backstory is written in the first person, using simple language. Its a short tale intentionally, its written to be as if Kor’ell himself is telling it over a campfire… likely eating the flesh of his enemies.

Who is this character? Ul’thor is a character from a short-lived Savage Worlds: Mass Effect game. Having grown tired of characters with tragic backstorys, Rob tried his hand at writing up a character who’s actually had a pretty good life. An understanding of the Mass Effect universe is assumed and we highly reccomend you give the game a play if you haven’t. The other interesting thing about this story is that Rob tried to write it from a 2nd person point of view. It doesn’t always work and was extremly difficult to write, but its a fun read none the less.

First Contact of Ul’thor
When you first step into the 37 you think the hunk of metal and parts sitting in the corner booth is just that, a pile of scrap.

“How odd”, you think to yourself, “That someone would just pile junk in that corner.”

You make your way up to the bar and order your favorite drink. You sit quietly on the stool for a moment before deciding to check out the scrap and see if there is anything worth scrounging from the pile. You make your way over and peer at the mess… Then you see the pile of scrap move.

Who is this character? Cavis was originally named Ato, thats only important when you get to his Tragedy. More importantly is that he’s a Houses of the Blooded character designed to be uncouth and brash. The story is written in the first person and is Ato (Cavis) recounting his life thus far. At the end of his story there is a segement written by the player (Rob in this case) about what he desired Ato’s great tragedy to be.

A Man with Two Names
After my fourth Sister was born, I ran away from my family home. The idea of living in a house with five women and only my father for male company was more then I could handle. Even most of our servants were women! I think even then, at my youngest, the Road called to my Falcon Blood. So, I hid my identity and face to pose as an Unblooded. I ran from Province to Province until I found myself living in a distant Uncle’s land under the tutelage of his Roadmen. As I neared my Spring I lived as the Roadmen did and once my Spring arrived, I become one officially.

Who is this character? Give a brief rundown of your character, what system/setting he’s from and some details that might be relevant to understanding the story.

Tale of a Deathseeker
A family. I had a family once. That was all years ago, a different life back then. I live by the Bushido. As did my father. More or less. It was on his death bed that my father finally confessed his greatest failure. Read the rest of this entry »

Who is this character? Dave was a short-lived Scion character and child of Baron Samedi. This was another experiment in writing style by Rob. Everything is written from the perspective of other people and chronicles Dave’s life. He was a fan of how it turned out, but for some reason hasn’t written another backstory like it since. It must have just been to much work.

Dave in the style of Rant
I try to make it a point to pop down to New Orleans from time to time and I guess this story starts down there. I remember the night, it was a Saturday and I was in my element. I can’t remember the date but it was somewhere in February… maybe March. Guess it doesn’t much matter now. The point is that was when I met her, she was wearing this black and purple outfit that screamed my own name. Swallowtail coat over a silk vest and slacks, crowned with a big black silk top hat she was practically begging for my attention. Even the platform boots seemed fitting and it wasn’t only a few honeyed words before her and I end up alone in her room. I disappeared in the morning and didn’t think any more about it, its not like she wasn’t one of hundreds that weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

Who is this character? Leto Hurst is Rob’s old character from an Iron Kingdoms game. The GM gave him permission to play a Soulknife with some unique twists to better fit the cannon of Iron Kingdoms. Leto was an Idarian orphan from Sul that ended up being raised by the Cygnarian Military. He showed “magical” potential at a young age and was groomed for Warcaster training. After flunking out, due to a total lack of arcane ability, he ended up working for the  Cygnarian Reconnaissance Service, Cygnar’s spy network, as a black-ops agent. His designation was Hellhound 1-2, “Unseen Harrier” which you’ll see referanced in the story.

From the Mind of Leto Hurst
The train rumbles north towards Corvis and I feel apprehensive. Its only been months since the incident and despite the fact I’ve been busted down and won’t be able to call those kind of shots for awhile, the sicking dread that I’ll cost another man his life hangs heavy in my gut. I stand up and pat Laross on the knee as I make my way over to the cargo door for a breath of fresh air. I grab hold of the oversized leather strap and heave the door open enough to step out onto the ledge. I grip the metal bar on the side of the car and lean into the wind a bit, just enough to ruffle my hair. I glance back in at the other guys sharing this luxury box car ride with me. Most of them are heading to Caspia to repel the new menace thats crawled out of the Marches. There are rumors Realthorne is behind it but I can’t believe that. I’m not sure why but suddenly I wish I would have made a different choice and just enlisted with the rest of these grunts. I’ve got a bad feeling about this new assignment.
